About the studio
A landscape studio that builds what it draws.
Colibri designs, engineers, and constructs outdoor environments across Los Angeles — pools and spas, hardscape, water and fire features, pergolas, and planting — as one continuous piece of work.
Most outdoor projects lose their quality in the gap between the drawing and the build. A designer hands over a set of plans, a contractor prices what is easiest, and the details that made the design good quietly disappear.
Colibri exists to close that gap. We keep design, engineering, and construction under one roof, so the shadow line under the coping, the joint that aligns with the door mullion, and the tree that was tagged at the grower all survive the journey to your property.
We work the way an architecture studio works: full-scale details, real material samples viewed on site in daylight, three-dimensional models of the finished space, and a single point of responsibility from first meeting to final walk.
How we work

Resolved before construction
Materials, levels, joints, planting, and lighting are decided in design. Site improvisation is where budgets and quality go.
Built for the climate we live in
Low-water Mediterranean planting, shade before air conditioning, and materials chosen for California sun, salt, and fire zones.
Detail at every scale
The master plan and the coping miter get the same attention. Both are visible; only one is obvious.
The process
One clear sequence. No handoffs.
Discover
We walk the property, study the architecture, review surveys and soils, and understand how you want to live outside.
Design
Concept, 3D spatial modeling, material sampling, planting plans, and lighting — reviewed with you until nothing is unresolved.
Engineer & permit
Structural, drainage, and hillside engineering, plus city submissions and design-review packages where required.
Build
Our own crews for hardscape, planting, lighting, and water, with one project lead accountable to you throughout.
Reveal & care
Lighting is tuned at night, planting is placed by hand, and you receive a written care calendar at handover.
