What fire features can be built into an outdoor space?

Do fire features need permits or gas work?
Gas lines, sizing, and shutoffs are permitted work in most Los Angeles jurisdictions, and fireplaces and chimneys have their own requirements. We coordinate the plumbing, engineering, and inspections as part of the build.
Is a fire feature safe in a high fire severity zone?
Many hillside and canyon properties sit in designated fire severity zones with specific restrictions on open flame, materials, and clearance. We check the zoning for your address early and design to what is allowed there — including fully enclosed or gas-only options.
Gas or wood burning?
Gas gives instant, controllable flame and is what most Los Angeles projects use. Wood burning has a different quality of heat and light but comes with stricter local rules and more maintenance. We walk through both before you decide.
